Live Feeds

Using your computer to listen to live feeds

  There are various ways to listen live scanner feeds over the internet, I will describe a couple of them that I use or know something about & provide simple instructions that should help you begin listening. Some feeds are provided by embedded players in a web page, opening the page usually automatically starts it playing. Others provide a clickable link that will open the feed in whatever your default media player is. Still another way to listen is using an application called Teamspeak that requires a small download to your computer after which you can connect to a growing number or Teamspeak servers that provide Public Safety feeds. My feed can be heard 2 ways one is on the ScanMass Teamspeak server ,

Using Butel's ARC Eazystream

  To listen using the ARC Eazystream client you must first download the free client software found on the Butel's website download page;  Go to > Butel's > in the left column click > Downloads > click Arc Eazystream Client. This will begin the download to your computer, the latest client version, v.0996, will automatically upload a current list of available servers that you can listen to by making a selection from the drop-down menu. My feed is listed as: Massachusetts- Eastern Mass Fire Radio.
Feed addresses can also be entered manually into the client by clicking the box labeled Servers this will open the "IP Set-up" window. There are 10 spots available for manually entering addresses, each line
has 4 columns to enter info.
IP Address/ DNS Name (required) here you would enter the server address.
The 2nd column is
Server Name (optional), the 3rd column is Audio, the 4th column is Data.

Using my feed info as an example it would entered as follows;

IP Address/DNS Name (required)- massfireradio.no-ip.org | Server Name (optional)- Boston Area Fire   Radio | Audio- 8100 | Data- 8101
 When you've entered that info into the 4 columns
click - OK.
Now in the Server IP/ DNS section click the drop down arrow, find the info you just entered and
click - connect.
When the feed plays text info is displayed in 2 boxes, the upper box toggles between the system name & group name, the lower box shows the agency that is transmitting. When your finished listening Press> Disconnect then Exit.
An online database of Eazystream feeds can be found at;

Using other Media Players

  To open a WinAmp feed - click - file > Play> URL... > type in or copy/paste the address exactly as shown.
To save addresses - while a feed is playing -
file > Play Bookmark > Add Current as Bookmark
 Once saved you can Edit the name - click
file > play bookmark > edit bookmark
in Media Library window -
select stream name > click edit > enter new name > click ok
When you save the feed as a Bookmark it may show on the list as either the name currently displayed
or an IP address, following the edit instructions lets you name it as you wish.
 You will now be able to open the feed directly from -
file > play bookmark > select name from list.

To open in i-Tunes - click
Advanced> Open Stream type in or copy/paste address
into "Open Stream" box
What you play is automatically saved into a Library.

 Now that you know what to do with a feed address here is a list of addresses. I have listened to all these feeds very recently so they all should work. However, there may be times when any of these may be unavailable. If the clickable links do not work or does not open in your preferred player you need to copy/paste or type them exactly as they are written beginning with http://....
into the
"Open/Play URL" box in WinAmp or Windows Media Player, in i-Tunes player click "Advanced" > "Open Stream"

  **Note** Though I have recently played all these feeds there may be times that some that will not connect. There are several reasons a feed will not play, the broadcaster has taken it temporarily off-line (not all feeds are 24/7), there is a problem with the feeds internet connection, the feed has a dynamic IP address & it has changed, or it has simply been discontinued. Also, these feeds can only support a maximum number of listeners at any given time due too bandwidth limitations, it is always possible that the feed has reached that limit, wait a while & try again.
 I will check these from time to time & indicate their status as indicated below;

Some of the feeds offer text tags, others just audio

The following feeds are from Mel's Garage.com

   **  Feeds for the Hampton Roads, Virginia area can
        be heard by following the link below and clicking

        "Listen Live (mp3)"  from one of the menu choices.

   ** A reliable place to listen to LAPD, LA County Sherriff & the CHP is the

      must be a registered user of the SBN forums before you can listen.
